About Me
The next generation of Bearcat...
Hello! As can be seen, my name is Jack Swauger and I am studying Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. As you can also see (based off the photo of me with UC Football Head Coach, Luke Fickell), I clearly have a passion for the sports here at UC. Born & raised in Cincinnati, with my father an alumni at Lindner College of Business, I have been a spectator at Bearcats sporting events ever since I was young. Almost everything in my closet has a Bearcat logo! There was almost no choice; my blood runs red. I needed to go to UC. Of course, there is more to it than just pride.

Since my first years in school, I was the odd one out. A kid who truly does his best in academics is bound to be the butt of the joke. But, I never let it change me, and kept as true to myself as I could. I truly believe that this quality is what drives me to my end goal- to have my own part in the Criminal Justice system. As my father is also the owner & founder of a computer forensics business that deals with criminal cases constantly- especially in Cincinnati- there was no contest about where I should enroll regarding field of study.

So, here we are - a University of Cincinnati Honors student with a world of learning ahead of him. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the UHP, and at the school I love, no less! I know that being in the UHP will not only enrich my school experiences, but my knowledge as well. I truly would not be here if I did not think the outcome would result in a better, more successful version of me.

Update 5.8.2022
I cannot believe the first year of UC has flown by. This past year has been enlightening, so say the least. I had successes, failures and learned from them both. This year was challenging as it related to the social aspects of university life. Being forced to wear masks didn't help, and I struggled with engaging people. Indeed, I still feel the odd man out. I believe that I've grown independently during this first year on-campus, and I learned where I still have room for improvement. I continue my academic journey this summer with Chemistry and another Honors Seminar. I am looking forward to my second year - for it be better, different, and more successful than the previous year. My ultimate goal is still to find the best version of myself with a plan for my future.

Update 4.19.2023
This year involved a lot of change for me. I decided to change my major to Criminal Justice and my minor to Biological Science. In doing so, I started attending more Criminal Justice classes and realized that this is the professional world I'd like to have a career in. I had the opportunity to engage with police officers and tour the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. I changed my study habits this year and found that it resulted in less stress and more consistent grades. I continue to enjoy going to men's basketball games with my dad, and football games with my family and friends. I look forward to the next year in the Big 12 and all of the fun, new changes it will bring to our university.

Update 4.30.2024
My third year at UC was finally the year when I felt like I was starting to grasp my adult life and be prepared for what was to come. I decided to take more online classes, which was best for my success due to the challenges with my mental health that can affect my attendance. I also started working a steady job with the University as a Desk Assistance at both Morgens and Scioto Halls. It coincides with my Criminal Justice major because I have to know how to deal with various situations, usually on my own, that may involve sexual assault, drug use, or general disorderly conduct that occurs in the building or with any resident. As with previous years, I attended the UC Men's Basketball games, including our run in the NIT. I will be living on campus for the summer in UPA and then moving into my new apartment in The Hub starting in August. I am looking forward to my last year at UC and finalizing my permanent plans.

Update 11.27.2024
I am getting ready to graduate in December and start truly living as an adult financially. I spent this semester completing my final classes and my field placement, and I moved into an off-campus apartment finally not associated with UC Housing. I completed two ride-alongs with Cincinnati Police to gain real life experience, and I'm both excited and hesitant about the future. I appreciate my time spent at UC and the lessons I learned.
